Summarizing your entire life in a minute
They released their top 50 wild card candidates for the Great Barrier Reef Islands Caretaker and I didn’t make it… looking at the videos that did, there are a few I don’t agree with but that’s the way life goes I guess. Each person sees what they want in another’s work.
The challenge of summarizing your life in one minute
I really enjoyed the whole application process anyhow, I may have lost on getting the best job in the world but to be honest, I already have it pretty good but the biggest challenge of the entire application process is summarizing my entire life in a minute! I have so many things I wanted to tell the judges that I could have either focused entirely on the Reef or, gamble, and focus entirely on me so they knew who they where getting. I just didn’t have room for both to be honest beyond a few short segments… I wasn’t the only person with this problem either, there were a bunch of other high achievers who applied as well who I didn’t see in the top 50 listing but my only guess is that maybe a few made it to the top 10 that, so far, are hidden from sight.
Best of luck to the winner
I wish the best of luck to the eventual winner, looking back, there isn’t anything I would have changed as, even the guy from Evolution of Dance was applying for this job too! It also put a bit of added fire under my butt to get my second book published ASAP and a few other things aligned perfectly so it was far from a waste of time to apply, it was meant to happen as it did in my opinion and I am all the better for haven gone through it.
The Bottom Line
Opportunity knocks and even if it doesn’t enter your life once you open the door, the glimpse of what may have been makes it almost as worthwhile.
