Strength training makes woman muscle bound?
Although education is slowly getting through the ranks- this is a commonly health belief among a lot of woman and one of the reasons many women do not exercise, cardio and certainly not strength training.
Woman naturally have less muscle and bone mass then men, without getting too bogged down by details, the main reason then genetic for this is their lower level of testosterone. Many women point to the 90’s when there was an “explosion” in very muscular woman in the extreme female bodybuilding events that would put most men to shame - don’t fool yourself, they where taking all sort of drugs to achieve this. Reason says avoid the drugs and you won’t develop to that extreme.
The benefits of strength training by far exceed any negative effects, which are often due to over training and a poor diet. If you workout regularly, expect your female body to lean out (not bulk up), a lowering of body fat (with complimentary diet), increase in strength & muscle tone, increase in a sense of feeling good, better sleep, more efficient body processes and lots of additional looks from the opposite sex.
So set up a meeting with a nutritionist to evaluate your myDiet profile, have a consultation with a doctor to make sure you don’t have any health issues that may be of concern and get a personal trainer to build a workout just for you matching your goals - that’s what myFitness is for!
